What Are We Doing?
The League Against Cruel Sports continues to campaign peacefully to ensure those who are cruel to animals in 'sport' are brought to justice.
- Our Hunt Crimewatch programme involves a network of volunteers who monitor and record the activities of hunts in order to help create cases for prosecution.
- Our Legal team works with both civil and criminal law, using evidence gathered through our Hunt Crimewatch programme.
- The League also advises on the use of the law against hunt members who trespass on private land; who lose control of their hounds resulting in savage attacks on domestic pets and other animals; who block quiet country lanes with 4 x 4s, and behave in an aggressive and intimidating manner. Find out what you can do if you are still troubled by the hunt.
- We own wildlife sanctuaries that create barriers to hunting and offer safety for thousands of animals.
- We work with landowners such as the Forestry Commission and the National Trust to stop illegal hunting on their land.
- We provide guidance for private landowners suffering from 'hunt havoc'.
- We lobby MPs to make sure that the Hunting Act is upheld.
- The League's Annual Hunting Report demonstrates the efficacy of the Hunting Act, and makes a very clear case against repeal. It shows a determined group of bloodsports enthusiasts who will break the law no matter what - and who think they are above the law. You can download the Report here (pdf format).
- We have put together a definitive report, Hunting with Dogs: Past, Present but No Future which outlines all the arguments against hunting and why this cruel sport should remain banned.

This urgent campaign was launched by the League to ensure the ban on hunting animals for sport remains.
There is a major threat to animal welfare because the new government has begun a process that could make it possible for blood sports to be re-legalised this year. People do not want to see foxes, hares or deer slaughtered for fun. Yet re-legalisation is a very real possibility.
We must not allow this to happen. If you share our belief that cruelty to animals is wrong, please give us your support.
